The town of Summerfield has an active Town Council and Parks and Recreation Department. The Town Council has developed a Land Use plan allowing for planned developments with open spaces while still maintaining the rural character of the town. In 2006 the Summerfield Community Park opened. It is a beautiful 50 acre park that includes walking trails, a fishing pond, and picnic shelters, with indoor and outdoor classroom areas.
